Production has commenced on Slasher Films’ horror film Nothing to Fear this past Monday, May 14th in Covington, Louisiana. Anchor Bay previously acquired US rights.

The cast includes Clancy Brown (Highlander, The Shawshank Redemption), Anne Heche (Psycho, Rampart), James Tupper (Mr. Popper’s Penguins, "Revenge"), Jennifer Stone ("Wizards of Waverly Place"), Ethan Peck (In Time), and Rebekah Brandes (Bellflower).

Nothing to Fear is the first feature from the horror shingle launched by iconic rocker Slash (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver) and Academy-Award winning producer Michael Williams and Rob Eric (Transsiberian, Session 9, The Fog of War). At the directing helm is Gore Verbinski protégé Anthony Leonardi III, who has worked alongside Verbinski on such films as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Rango, and the upcoming Lone Ranger. Leonardi has also worked as a creature designer on many films, including Francis Lawrence’s Constantine and the upcoming 47 Ronin.

Synopsis
Nothing to Fear’ is the tale of a family whose journey towards a better life in a small town is savagely derailed by a charismatic but emotionally conflicted man of the cloth. The movie is based on an actual town of Stull, Kansas, which is surrounded by Internet folklore proclaiming the town to be one of the seven gateways to Hell.

Mr. Syfy Corin Nemec stars in Dragon Wasps from director Joe Knee (Ghost Game) and writers Mark Atkins (Sand Sharks) and Rafael Jordan (Jabberwock). Dominika Wolski, Ben Easterday, Nikollete Noel, and Gildon Roland co-star.

Synopsis:
When her father mysteriously disappears on an expedition, beautiful entomologist Gina Humphries and her fiery assistant, Rhonda, set out to search the rain forests of Belize. Due to numerous robberies and assaults in the jungle, they are escorted by heavily-armed soldiers. Guerillas, lead by the infamous Jaguar, ambush the convoy and incite a bloody shootout. Just when things can’t get worse, a horde of murderous Dragon Wasps, massive flying bugs that shoot flame from their abdomens, swarms the soldiers. Now the military must defeat Jaguar’s bandits and survive the fearsome insect onslaught as they venture inside the Dragon Wasps’ hive.

Some news is come out of Cannes concerning the latest Nazi-themed horror flick to come our way, The 4th Reich. Former "Game of Thrones" star Sean Bean has joined the ever growing cast, which includes Sean Pertwee, Tom Savini, and Craig Conway in Shaun Robert Smith's film.

Shooting begins this summer. In addition, the movie was recently snapped up by U.K. sale to eOne Entertainment in a deal with British sales and finance banner AV Pictures.

Synopsis
During the early hours of June 6th, 1944, a bloody but victorious offensive took place in occupied Western Europe that would claim thousands of lives. Codenamed 'Operation Overlord,' the armies of the combined allied forces would begin their long push to Berlin, with the aim of bringing down the despised Nazi regime.

But the chilling realities of Hitler's true intentions are exposed: to create a force that can never be beaten, a 4th Reich - The New World Order. A team of Nazi doctors and scientists were charged with generating a superior race. Their experiments and research would produce unspeakable evil and change the face of humanity forever. The flick centers upon a family who finds themselves in possession of a haunted box and their struggles to get rid of its evil curse. The jumping off point is a true story culled from the Leslie Gornstein-bylined Los Angeles Times article "A Jinx In A Box" (July 2004).

Look for Ole Bornedal's The Possession starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Madison Davenport, and Natasha Calis in theaters on August 31st, 2012.

Synopsis
Based on true events, ‘The Possession’ is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. Alpha Girls is about a haunted sorority house terrorized by an unholy curse of their own creation. The film stars Falon Joslyn, Nicole Cingilia, Nikki Bell, and Julie Chen and features legendary entertainers Ron Jeremy and Schooly D. The film was written and directed by Tony Trov and Johnny Zito.

Dimension Films announced today that they have acquired U.S. distribution rights to the psychological thriller COMPULSION starring Heather Graham and Carrie-Anne Moss. The film, now shooting in Ontario, Canada, also stars Kevin Dillon and Joe Mantegna and is being directed by Egidio Coccimiglio.

COMPULSION is based on the South Korean film “301, 302″ and centers on two women occupying neighboring apartments, each grappling with obsessions that have begun to overtake their lives. Graham portrays Amy, a vivacious, calculating chef whose need to be desired is so far-reaching that she becomes a star in her own imaginary cooking show. Moss is Saffron, a reclusive but alluring ex-child star who is battling anorexia. Their complex, ever-intensifying relationship builds to a surprising climax as their emotional connections to food and one another boil over.

“The combination of a great script, two very strong female leads and a suspenseful tone and pace made COMPULSION a highly sought after project for the company,” said Bob Weinstein, Co-Chairman, The Weinstein Company.

The award-winning company Big Biting Pig Productions has more to brag about than just a cool name. But rather than simply sit back and drink the local bourbon, the company has been busy and announces the upcoming premiere of Spirit Stalkers in Madisonville, KY on June 16.

Described by Friday the 13th scribe Victor Miller as "Sly, ironic, surprising and ultimately really scary as hell. Not your run-of-the-mill slice and dice horror flick..." Spirit Stalkers is a story of a paranormal investigative team that runs into some real action.

Writer/director of Spirit Stalkers Steve Hudgins describes the movie as "a mix between the modern popularity of paranormal investigative shows and the classic ghost stories that so many of us grew up with." Nice…just what a spooky film should be.
